My 2008 'Elf Fantasy Fair' Dress
The Elf Fantasy Fair is a major event – in 2008 (19 and 20 April) held for the eighth time! – and revolves around fantasy, the Middle Ages, and Wicca. A whole range of actors, authors, scientists, artists, and musicians will contribute their skills and knowledge to this fantastic festival!
It's located at the largest castle of Holland, Castle de Haar (between Utrecht and Amsterdam). For this event the location is temporarily changed into the Kingdom of Elfie.
And I will be there for the third time!!
And like last year, my mother will make a dress for me!! :)
On this part of my website you can follow this process!! I really hope it will be a great succes!!

The Fabric!
After a long search ... in only 1 store :) We found the fabric. Its not exacly the same, but its close!
The 'blue' part of the dress will be in 2 layers.
and the 'underdress' will also have 2 layers, one off white, and one ochre.

The First accesoires
I ordered this Lace Parasol, I really hope the colors wil match!! :)

The Shoes!! I was very surprised to find the shoes so soon!! Last year I searched for 1 month to find them!
I'm very happy with them. Maybe I will decorate them with some blue ribbons.
The shoes are made of some velvet fabric.
The colors are a bit weird, I will make better photos soon! Then in sunlight and not under a lamp!

The Wig! I ordered this wig on ebay today. I really hope the colors will match.
I know the hair needs a bit more (larger) cruls, but it can be styled with lukewarm curling iron, dryer, or rollers,
so I hope I can make it exacly like the hair of Giselle (from the movie 'Enchanted')

Now I have to search for the flowers and the ribbons!! The FUN part!!

The cutting of the fabric! We finaly started!! The cutting is always (for me) the scarest part!!
Although we did not had enough fabric, everything went well!!
We had to go to the store again for more fabric, and there we found ribbons and lace for the front of the dress!
On the left is just an colage with the ribbons, and the lace, and on the right is how it will finaly look.

The Underdress is made out of 3 layers!
The very first fitting! Its still not a dress, but soon that will be!! :)

We removed the pink 'ribbon' it doesn't work there.
We also desided to make 1 dress, and not 2 seperate dresses. :) Thats much easier to put it on!

The underdress is almost an circle, really wide!!
I made a pink ribbon in the parasol. I'm not sure I will leave it this way, maybe I will remove it, don't like it so much!

My mother finaly started with the blue fabirc!!
The lace :) I really love the cute little roses :)
The result so far!! :) During the easter days (in Holland we have 2 days of easter) My mother have no time to work on the dress, maybe on monday!!
I really hope, otherwise I have to wait till tuesday.

Fitting again! :)
In this step we made the blue part of the dress fit, it was to big in the beginning!
Today my mother also made the lace on the front of the dress

I had to embroider the blue shiny things back on the front of the dress! Because we need 2 different paterns on the front, we fliped one.
And because we used the back of the fabric, there were no shiny things on it. So I had to embroider them back on!
In the same time, my mother started with the sleeves!
They look fantastic right!!! :D
She attatched one allready, the other one she will attatch tomorrow!

As you can see the dress is almost finished!! But the last things will still take a lot of time. But thoose are the fun things!
My mother made the bow! Its still to big!!
As you can see, with a small chance, the dress looks completly different!
I also found the flowers for on the front! :)
To make the bottom of the dess the good length, I have to stand on the table!! That was fun!! :)

I received my wig today!!!
The curl near my face is allready curlled with my curling iron, I have to curl the complete wig!! So it will all be large curlls!! :)

More photos :) I still have to color my own hair, to match the wig better. Now It looks stupid!! haha
My little niece Lois :) She thought I was a real princess!! :)
